And just like that, we’re smack dab in the middle of the holiday season. 2021 wasted no time speeding on by and we’re looking 2022 in the face. How!? Whatever the case, the holiday season can be super stressful. Now that people are feeling more comfortable doing more traveling and seeing friends and family it’s getting even more hectic. How is a mama to protect her peace in all this potential chaos and madness? Let’s talk about some options, shall we?
We can be bombarded with things, like permission slips for the kids in a Christmas show to planning a dinner for the extended family. We all know moms have a never ending to do list. It’s always important to tell people what you need and how they can help you. It’s even more critical in saving your sanity during the holiday season. Let people know how they can step up to the plate to assist you so you’re not overwhelmed with all the things.
Make it a point to carve out time for yourself. If you use it to exercise, that’s a bonus. While it does require energy it give you energy too. You’ll be more focused and have more energy to take what comes at you. Meditation is also a great option. A good 5 or 10 minute meditation could be the perfect go to to get your mind right when there is so much going on.
This time of year, there are more things coming at you than usual. Set some boundaries and stick to them. Let your no mean no so you can make room for your yes. If not, you’ll be saying yes to a bunch of things and stressing yourself out. People will be annoyed with you and expecting you to deliver and you’ll be mad because you didn’t really want to do it in the first place. Saying no is a win-win, sis!
In all the holiday hoopla, make time to sit back and enjoy it all. It’s one of those times where we focus solely on family and those closest to us. That should feel good. Create time to breathe through it and enjoy it.
