Do you know how every now and then you come across something that you’re so into that you have to tell your girls all about it? Of course you do. We’ve all been there. And lucky you, you’re our girls and we just have to share some stuff that we’re really loving right now. That’s how the squad rolls, right?
We’re Loving
A while ago we saw this post about some skincare line for people of color. The brand mentioned was Volition. We checked it out and were curious about a product they sell called a turmeric brightening polish. Turmeric has all these health benefits – one of them being reducing inflammation. That is definitely a great thing for the skin. We tried it and loved it!
Another thing we are loving right now is Larabar Bites. We are already fans of the Larabar but the bites are just perfect for when we’re running around (which is always) and just need a quick snack handy. They are super easy to pop into your purse or a diaper bag. Bonus: the kids love them too. Winning!
You know we love podcasts around here. One of our faves has to be Ratchet & Respectable. Demetria L. Lucas is a culture critic who shares all things pop culture from tv, movies, and politics. The thing is you’ll find yourself nodding along in agreement with so much of what she says. Her podcast feels like a check-in with your good friend.
Have you heard of Because of Them We Can? It’s a really cool company founded by a Black mom. We tried the subscription boxes for our kids and LOVE them! The boxes focus on a particular part of Black history or a notable Black person. It includes fact sheets and items around that theme. The kids’ have received things like a wallet and a bank from a box about Black Wall Street. They have items like sunglasses, harmonicas, and a t-shirt from a box about Stevie Wonder. It’s a fun way to teach kids about their culture and kids always love getting mail. You can’t be mad at that.
If you hang around here a bit, you know we talk about books here and there. The book we’re reading right now is The Midnight Library. We had no idea what it was about but we’ve been pleasantly surprised. It’s about a woman unhappy with her life and she tries to overdose on her medication. Instead of dying, she’s in this in-between place called the Midnight Library.
While there she gets to look over the books of her life to see what her regrets are. She also gets to see the results of the lives she wanted to live but didn’t pursue for various reasons. She has to see if there’s a version of her life that she feels is worth living. It’s so interesting and really causes you to look at your own life and think about the things you don’t want to regret not pursuing. Really looking forward to seeing how this one ends.
That’s what we’re currently into. What are you loving right now?
