You need a good podcast in your life. I have a few. Before the pandemic I was into podcasts but since the pandemic started, I have gone all in! Being that we have to stay home for work and life, it cuts down on the co-worker interaction we get by being in an office. You know what fills a bit of that void? Podcasts. There are lots of interesting conversations to be had and things to learn from a good podcast. If your into pop culture, news or self care – there’s a pod for you.
We listen to pods while cooking, cleaning, working, showering and running errands. We subscribe to too many. To the point where it’s spread out over two phones because we ran out of memory on one. Since we found some good stuff, it’s only right that we share. Here are some that we shared before. Now on to some new, good pods.
Ratchet and Respectable – Demetria is the homegirl with a hot take on all things pop culture. Her podcast literally feels like a conversation with your friend.
The Suga – Tika and Thai are friends and moms of young kids. Their podcast is a moms guide to the sweet side of life. You’ll learn and laugh right along with them in fun conversations.
The Stoop – Stumbled upon this podcast and happy about it. It’s a pod about Blackness, race and identity in America. The hosts bring a new topic every week and “stoop” it out while sharing various perspectives.
Up First – This is a great podcast to listen t first thing in the morning. It gives a quick glance of the big stories in the news and what you should know about those stories. The episodes are maybe 20 at best.
The Daily – Another good first thing in the morning podcast. The Daily takes one big story and dives in. It’s really informative and a great way to get the details and interesting perspectives on a story.
Brown Ambition – This is a personal finance podcast with personality. It’s in no way boring or stuffy. You’ll learn, you’ll laugh and it will be a good time.
Iced Coffee and Self Care – This is a podcast for women who always seem to find themselves at the bottom of their to do list. Does this sound familiar, mama? Latorsha focuses on you making your own self care a priority. She shares real life, doable tips to make it happen.
Here’s the Thing – If you follow KevOnStage, you know he is going to make you laugh. This podcast, featuring him and That Chick Angel is full of the hot topics everyone is talking about. They offer their hot takes in a way that will have you nodding along in agreement and cracking up laughing!
Code Switch – This pod tackles conversations about race and shares unique perspectives. This podcast explores how race is a part of every single thing in society from food to music and everything in between.
Black History Year – This one starts every week with the question, “what does Black liberation look like to you?” Every week, the answers are so different. The podcast interviews various activists, thinkers and a bevy of folks. You’ll learn some things historically as well hear some new perspectives. You may not agree with it all but it will make you think.
Are there any podcasts that you’d add to this list?
