Mugs, personalized jewelry, flowers and brunch at your favorite restaurant – those are the norm when it comes to celebrating Mother’s Day. Plus who could forget the cute cards from our kiddos that they made at school. They’re the kind of thing you keep and show them when they’ve grown up. Something that we’ve been seeing more and more of is Moms just wanting to get away – from everybody…by herself. Yes, the Mom staycation is a thing. Mom books a room at a hotel and spends the day doing all the things she loves. Even if that’s nothing at all. Hey sis, anyway you want to spend Mother’s Day works for us!
While it’s nice to feel the love from your family on the holiday, there’s nothing wrong with showing yourself some love that day too. Being a Mom is incredibly rewarding, still it’s no small thing. Saying it’s exhausting is putting it mildly. We surround ourselves in all things kids, family and all the other things that fill our plates. Mother’s Day seems like a great excuse for you to celebrate you for all that you do. Read on for some ideas.
Mother’s Day From You, To You
- Is there something that you’ve been wanting to do but you’ve been putting off because – pandemic? Schedule the appointment. Make sure it’s something that’s about you. Scheduling groceries don’t count – that benefits everyone. Make it about you.
- If you’re the cook in your family, you’re probably more than used to creating a menu that works for everyone. Well, change that this weekend. You have a favorite breakfast spot? Order from there. Missing sushi because you’re the only one who likes it? Have some.
- Our timeline has seen more than a few posts from Moms who are not really feeling the holiday because they’ve lost their Mom. If you are blessed to still have your Mom around and have a relationship with her, spend time with her – alone. It’s one thing to spend time together when the kids are around. She’s in full grandma mode then. Spend some time alone with her to have some quality Mother/Daughter time. You won’t regret it. Other people absolutely wish they could.
