Mommy needs a minute. I know you’ve found yourself saying or thinking that over this last year. With virtual school we’re spending extra amounts of time with the kids. Outside of school, you’re doing all the things. From working to making meals – Mama needs more than a minute. So how are you taking time for yourself? Read on to check out a few ideas we have for some self care whether you have 10 minutes or an hour.
While being at home for work has it’s perks, it doesn’t encourage getting up to move. In an office, you probably walk around more even if it’s just to chat with a friend. We have to make an extra effort to move our bodies these days. We found these barre workouts on Amazon prime that are hitting the spot to help us take care of our bodies. A good sweat sesh is always a good idea. The classes are free with Prime and we even found some yoga and Pilates classes.
Skin care is kind of a self care go to, right? We tend to think of a nice facial as a self care treat. We found these masks that hit the spot. It’s a quick skin pick me up and leaves the skin feeling and looking moisturized.
So many moms complain that one of the things that fall off with motherhood is time to read. We’ve definitely been there. We have to make the time to dig into a good book. Plus, it’s good for our kids to see us doing something that’s just for us. It’s always a great thing, too, when kids see us read. Gotta encourage kids to be readers, right? Why not lead by example. A good book we’ve read lately is Girl Gurl Grrrl
You know what always feels like a good idea? A mug of tea. It’s self care in a cup. We recently found a bunch of Black owned tea brands. One of the faves that we’ve tried is Hella Tea. They are based in the Bay Area and it’s super obvious in the names of their teas. Huey Tea Newton anyone? Or how about some E4Tea or Tea Short?
We promised five things, right? The last one is simple and free. The biggest Mommy needs a minute for us is sleep. It’s not always possible to take a nap. There’s way too much going on during the day to hit the snooze and curl up on the couch. Instead, take advantage of your kids bedtime. When they go to bed, soon after, you turn in too. It’s probably not going to be an every night thing. But going to bed around the time the kids do is a good way to make sure you’re catching up on your Zzz’s. The self care 101 and sometimes it’s the hardest thing to get. How are you taking a Mommy minute these days?
