It’s no surprise that we love books around here. There have been plenty of good reads shared on these pages. This latest one is a doozy! The School for Good Mothers is one that was full of surprises. We had no idea where the story was going or what the book was really about. So when the pages started to turn we were surprised that we wanted to fight EVERYONE. This one hit close to home for anyone who is a mother. Let’s talk about why.
An exhausted mom makes a huge mistake by leaving her 18-month-old daughter at home alone while she runs an errand. Her daughter had an ear infection and had been crying nonstop. Her mother is parenting solo and is exhausted. She finally gets her daughter to calm down by putting her in a bouncy seat. So she takes the moment of quiet to run to the office and grab files. She also grabs coffee while she’s out and ends up being gone for over two hours! When she arrives home, a neighbor has called the police, and her daughter is removed from her home. Getting her back won’t be easy, Leaving her is a mistake she’ll pay for over and over again.
After having to meet with social workers and having supervised visits with her ex-husband and mistress-turned-live-in girlfriend – it’s not enough to get her baby back. So she’s sent to the school for good mothers. If she passes their tests – she’ll be allowed to be a mother to her child again. What happened at this school will have you wanting to throw the book across the room! It’s one shocker after another.
This is a really good read. It’s a story you’ll thing of for days after reading it.
